Today it is time to reach the top of the Peruvian Andes, above 4300m, habitat of the great Andean condor and the cute alpacas, a place where the glaciers show their splendor to the maximum and thus descend through a road that winds through different mountains which hold different ecosystems and landscapes, ride your bike down this beautiful road until reaching the town of Ollantaytambo considered as the last living Inca town

  • Duration: 7 hours – shuttle time 2.5 hours – riding time 4.5 hrs

  • Maximum altitude: 4316 m –14242 ft
  • Minimum altitude:  2800 m – 9240 ft
  • Up:20 m (66 ft) – Down: 1516m (5002 ft)
  • Distance: 44 km – 27.5 ml

The majestic Andean mountain range runs all over Peru with 60 mountains and glaciers above 6,000 m. Along the Andes, there are many cities and hundreds of small towns. The main communication system is the longest highway in the world, the Panamericana highway which connects the whole South American continent, and of course other roads that go everywhere into the mountains.

Today we will drive to the Abra Malaga at 4300 m, near the Veronica glacier. From this point we are going to descend a windy road passing by small communities, Incan remains, nice waterfalls, and great views as we go down from the Puna highlands to the foothills of the Sacred Valley of the incas. After finishing our ride, we are going to enjoy a typical Pachamanca lunch and then go back to Cusco.
