Located deep in the remote Peruvian Andes, MACHUCPICCHU is a unique place in the world which is visited by hundreds of thousand people every year. Most prefer the train to get there, while others hike 4 to 5 days through the Inca Trail. But just a few crazy, adventurous, and cool people like us will take our MOUNTAIN BIKE and ride through the most amazing Andean MTB trails located in Cusco and the SACREDH VALLEY of the Incas! This is the most complete MOUNTAIN BIKE ADVENTURE we have designed for all of you. We will explore very high mountain trails with amazing landscapes, glaciers, herds of llamas and alpacas, lagoons, rivers, hot springs, small villages, many ancient Incan trails that we will ride on, passing by the salt mines, Incan sites and other attractions until we arrive to MACHUPICCHU. This MOUNTAIN BIKE ADVENTURE involves history, culture, amazing MTB trails, delicious food and lots of good fun every day.
Highlights
Day 1: Cusco
Our adventure begins at the Cusco airport where the guide will welcome you and help put your bike and luggage into the car, then we drive to the hotel where you can get comfortable and rest for a few hours. While you rest, our team of guides will help you to build up your bikes for this great MTB ADVENTURE that awaits us. Once everyone is ready, we will go to enjoy a delicious welcome lunch where the MTB guide will inform you in detail about this great MOUNTAIN BIKE ADVENTURE. After lunch, we will take a leisurely tour of the city and visit different points of interest such as the colorful local market of SAN PEDRO, the bohemian San Blas neighborhood, the historic center and much more. On this first day, we take it easy so that you can get used to the altitude in which we will MOUNTAIN BIKE the following days.
Day 2: Cusco MTB Trails
The sun has already risen and we know how excited you are to ride in Cusco, the paradise of MOUNTAIN BIKE in Peru. We are as excited as you are, that is why the first thing to do is to enjoy a delicious and nutritious breakfast. Then, load the bikes in our transportation vehicle and head to the mountains in order to ride amazing MOUNTAIN BIKE trails around the city. MTB courses where riders from Cusco and Peru train very often to polish their MTB skills, these trails have technical and steep sections, loose terrain, rock gardens, woods, berms, gaps, drops, ramps, roots and lots of fun. The trails that we will ride are CORAO DH, MISKIUNU, BROGGI DH, YUNCAYPATA, INKILLTAMBO and HUAYLLARCITO. The last ride is very fun and it ends at the main plaza of the city where we can enjoy a well-deserved Cusqueña beer and a wonderful sunset.
This first day of MOUNTAIN BIKE is both a warm-up and at the same time a small example of the incredible MTB trails that await us in the coming days and that CUSCO KINTI BIKING TOURS designed it exclusively for you!
Day 3: Cusco EPIC Trails
Today we have to reach the top of the Andes and cross very high mountains. After a delicious breakfast, we get the bikes ready and head to the southern mountains of Cusco which have amazing MTB trails that start around 4,000 m 13,200 ft, and descend through amazing MTB trails where you can test the MTBiker inside you. This great day we will ride the single tracks of HUACOTO, THE WIZARD, CHANNELS, EL ZAPATON and THE SHEEPERD. All these routes are further away to the south of the city and are the best that the city offers. All of these are longer, very flowy and more demanding. Along the trails we will find ramps, berms, drops, rock gardens, roots, woods, very steep sections and everything a rider is looking for to enjoy a great day of MOUNTAINBIKE with friends. After the first MTB session we will enjoy a delicious and comforting lunch outdoors and thus regain energy and the desire to ride again through these amazing MTB trails that have everything. At the end of the day we will return to the hotel in Cusco to enjoy of a free afternoon exploring the city.
Day 4: Cusco - El Radar Ride:
The third day of riding and it gets better and better, further south, higher, and more amazing views of the great snow-capped Ausangate 6,385 m 22,555 ft. Today we are heading to the southern valley, a well-known area to practice MOUNTAIN BIKE. This area is frequently visited by many local riders. The trail that we will ride is a must do or must ride in Cusco. We are talking about the RADAR RIDE, a complete and fluid single track from top to bottom that starts at 4500 m 14,850 ft, with an incredible view of the Andes mountain range. This is a narrow trail that becomes wide, and rocky along the descent, a trail with very tight curves, small drops, and much more that flow to the banks of the Vilcanota river where we will enjoy a delicious typical lunch and then continue with the fun. We will ride it fo the second time in order to have a great fluid ride, then we will go to ride another amazing trail around this mountains
Day 5: Urubamba - La Maxima -SDH
Get your luggage and your bikes ready, today we are heading to the overwhelming SACREDH VALLEY of the Incas, to ride the most epic MOUNTAIN BIKE trails in the Peruvian Andes! Today we will ride two amazing MTB trails which are LA MAXIMA and SANTISIMO DH, To get to the first course, we have to communicate and coordinate with members of a small community who will give us access to this secret place located in the high plains of the Peruvian Andes at 4,470 m 14,750 ft. We will start our ride in an all-mountain-enduro style trail, which offers an incredible view of the sacred valley, few snowcapped mountains and the HUAYPO lagoon. Along the descent, we will enjoy a very fluid natural trail that gradually becomes a typical DH TRAIL with tighter curves, rough terrain, loose stones and everything crazy that we shredders love. After lunch we will go to the place that hosted the best DH race in Peru, the amazing SANTISIMO DH, that every year use to bring together the most outstanding riders from Peru, South America, and the world. Those who train hard and race to get a place on the podium, a trail with rocky and technical sections, sharp turns, ramps and small drops that flow through a very beautiful valley to the foothills of the mountain.
Before the sunset we head to our new lodging in the SACREDH VALLEY of the incas, one of the most beautiful and charming in the area, where we will have a very nice welcome party to this beautiful place full of amazing MTB trails.
Day 6: Urubamba- Maras 1-2- Misminay
Waking up in the SACREDH VALLEY is something unique and indescribable and today we are heading to nearby mountains that have amazing MOUNTAIN BIKE trails. This great day we will ride through the single tracks of MARAS 1-2 and MISMINAY PS, The first 2 trails are the favorites of local riders since they are easily accessible and are super fluid from top to bottom. They include single tracks that have small ramps and drops, berms, some steep sections and all the other things that a trail needs to be fun. Riding through a small canyon that will take us to the incredible man-made salt pans of Maras until we reach the banks of the Urubamba river. Then we go and enjoy a well-deserved buffet lunch in the SACREDH VALLEY of the Incas.
In the afternoon we go to the heights of MISMINAY PS to ride another more technical single track than the first two. This cool MTB trail will take us to a magical place from where we can observe the Incan crop laboratory of MORAY and the snowcapped mountain of CHICON. This single track begins with thin lines that later on become wider and more fluid. It has small ramps, loose terrain and a very fun section of natural wallrides. We finish our ride in PACHAR where we will go to our favorite place to enjoy some delicious craft beers.
Day 7: Machupicchu- Ollantaytambo
Today is one of those once-in-a-lifetime days because we will explore the sacred citadel of MACHUPICCHU. Early in the morning, we head to OLLANTAYTAMBO train station to board the train that will take us through a magical place that connects the mountains with the high jungle. The train passes through changing ecosystems and varied landscapes. After almost 2 hours of travel we will reach Aguas Calientes town, where we will take a 30-minute bus ride towards MACHUPICCHU. Once in MACHUPICHU, we will have an expert-guided tour to learn more about this ancient culture. We will explore the entire citadel for approximately 3 to 4 hours in which we can take a short hike that will take us to the Inca bridge along a spectacular path. We leave the Inca bridge and return to make a complete tour visiting sacred temples, royal houses, main squares and all the important places that this sacred citadel has to offer. After an amazing tour from corner to corner it is time to say goodbye to this wonderful place and return to Aguas Calientes to catch the train that will take us back to Ollantaytambo.

NOTE
if you wish to take the optional hike to the WAYNAPICCHU mountain, please let us know months in advance to find you a ticket for this great hike which is a challenge as it requires great physical effort and no fear of heights to conquer the top.
Day 8: Ollantaytambo – Inka Avalanche
Another day, and what better way than to start in OLLANTAYTAMBO, the most beautiful town in the entire SACREDH VALLEY of the Incas, and what better way to explore than by MOUNTAIN BIKING through amazing MTB trails located around this great place. Today we will ride the renowned INCA AVALANCHE, which is the home of the most awaited DH race by hundreds of local and international riders who come together every year to be part of this MOUNTAIN BIKING festival. The INCA AVALANCHE begins above 4,400 m 14,520 ft, near the top of the Veronica snowcapped mountain and flows until it reaches the vicinity of MACHUPICCHU, riding down an MTB trail that has small ramps, natural wallrides, passing around shepherd communities, Incan archeological sites, and especially a lot of adrenaline. We will ride this trail twice and then return to Ollantaytambo to enjoy a hearty lunch and some local drinks.
In the afternoon, we go to another point to ride another outstanding MTB trail that begins in the archaeological site of PUMA MARCA. This trail is a mix of green terrain with rocks, and flows through an ancient Incan road that takes us through unique places passing slopes full of Incan platforms, small streams, and some Andean communities until we reach OLLANTAYTAMO. Riding through its beautiful narrow streets with water channels running next to the wall all the way down to the plaza where we can enjoy a few beers with a uniquely beautiful sunset.
Day 9: Lares Hotsprings Enduro Ride
The days go by and the MOUNTAIN BIKE ADVENTURES are endless, and yes, today is another great day! After a delicious breakfast, we load the bikes and our luggage in the transport and head to the heart of the ancient mountains of Ollantaytambo where Incan descendants still inhabit these majestic mountains. Once we get to the very top, we start our ride along a nice trail in the mountains that acts as the natural border between the jungle and the Andes of Peru. This one is a nice MTB trail in which we will ride around large mountains, glaciers, rivers, lakes, and where we will be able to observe large herds of llamas and alpacas along the descent. We will also ride by different small towns until we connect with another nice ENDURO trail which will take us directly to the hot springs of Lares. Of course, we will spend the night here so you can soak and relax as long as you like.
Day 10: Cusco - Lares MTBing - Lamay
Our adventure is almost over and today we will ride two trails that we decided to save for the end. After one hour in transport we arrive at the LARES MTBing pass located at 4460 m 14,720 ft. But we want to go higher, so we have to push our bikes until we reach the top of the Andes. With the little breath that we have left, we will conquer the summit. Here, we will be rewarded by observing the majestic mountains around us, allowing us to stop for a moment to reflect on all the adventures that we lived in the past days as they become beautiful memories that we will cherish for the rest of our lives. We hold our breath and all we have to do is enjoy these endless descents to the maximum. Every sacrifice has a reward and it is just beginning, we start the ride through a sandy and sloping terrain and then connect to a thousand-year-old Incan road in which we can release the breaks and enjoy the speed to its maximum level. Just hold the handlebar tight and follow me! After this epic descent we head to the heights of the mountains of LAMAY, until we reach the community of Sapacto 4,330 m 14290 ft, from where we will descend along another ancient Incan trail a little more technical with rocky areas that flows from top to bottom. At the end of these descents we will enjoy a typical lunch in the area (the guinea pig) and then return to Cusco, but not without riding HUAYLLARCITO, the trail we rode the first day of our MOUNTAIN BIKE ADVENTURE. At night we will gather to celebrate the incredible days we spent riding a bike in the Peruvian Andes.
Day 11: Departure Day
We know that travel is often more than just MOUNTAIN BIKE ADVENTURES and that many travelers want to extend their trip within Peru. In order to know the cultural, historical and gastronomic wealth that Peru has to offer, we are happy to assist you in future plans. Just let us know what works best for you. However, if your plan is to go directly to the airport, don't worry we will assist you.
